I have lived in Japan going on 50 years from after I earned a BA degree in Secondary Education and Japanese History at Western Washington University, Bellingham, Washington, at which time I made my first trip to Japan in 1972 as a home-stay and study-abroad student.
My career has included twenty years as a salaryman in a Japanese company and a teacher of Japanese Social Studies at Nishimachi International School.
For the last 20 years I have been focused on providing tours through my own company to visitors where I introduce Japan’s history, culture, and society. My tours provide vivid experiences for visitors and locals alike.
Besides custom Tokyo history tours, I lead historical and cultural tours to other locations in Japan like Hakone, Nikko, Kamakura, Kyoto, and up the ancient Nakasendo.
Recently I taught tour conducting classes at Temple University, Tokyo Campus. In my free time, I enjoy practicing Nihon Buyo, ikebana, and work in my karasansui garden in Nikko when I now live.
